Martha Stewart has recently embraced 3D printing and UAVs. Two technologies that I have been using for 13 and 20 years. I respect the way that Martha has researched and educated herself in regard to proper use of her drones as described in the Time Magazine article. Martha is not one to force technology into some half-baked use case just because it is shiny and trendy. Martha rolls up her sleeves, gets dirt under her nails and kicks ass!
"Multiple Spinning Razors of Liability"
Unfortunately not everyone jumping on the drone bandwagon takes time to do a modicum of research, or learn the basics of how their new Multirotor UAV actually works. So, with ignorant bliss many "drone experts" operate their flying multiple spinning razors of liability without knowing the many points of failure. And many UAV operators seem to have a total disregard for the safety and privacy of others.
I understand why the FAA is implementing unfavorable actions in order to minimize the inherent potential for injury and possibly loss of life. However, using a big-ass flyswatter to control the budding UAV industry might not be the best tact. Champions of UAVs like Brendan Schulman & Peter Sachs have been actively working hard to protect and shed light in the murky bureaucratic confusion in regard to safe operation of drones in the United States .
"UAV Gold-Rush"
Economically speaking, we are in the midst of a UAV Gold-Rush. According to AVUSI: "AUVSI’s findings show that in the first three years of integration more than 70,000 jobs will be created in the United States with an economic impact of more than $13.6 billion."
I am suspect to as how much of this projection might be UAV Fool's Gold. When you start talking multibillion-dollar potential, who exactly will be cashing in? I'm not so sure that it will be the small businesses. Unless of course it is several small businesses that are directly linked to very large Corporations via UAV Venture Capital.
"UAV Subterfuge"
Could there be some type of deliberate UAV subterfuge going on? A planned effort to distract the masses in order to implement a regulated cash making system? Closed-door organised control under the guise of safety and the best interest of the small UAV companies?
No this can't be true - am I spewing crazy UAV Conspiracy talk?
Maybe, maybe not - you be the judge..
From sUAS News: "Just reading over the response to Mr. Musgrave’s FOIA reply for the current UAS ARC agenda."
